Multi Media Poetry Evaluation

Evaluation

My Final MMP (Multi Media Poetry) was based on a poem Weeping Willow that I wrote for my English A class previously. My project is around two minutes long, and pictures correspond with the text, and the mood of the poem, which is sad. It didn’t take much time to finish the whole project (the Multi Media part, because it usually takes me longer to do evaluation and written parts of the project). I did have some problems at the beginning, because I wasn’t fully familiar with the programe, but after a while, it was pretty easy. Before I started working on my final product, I planned to include a few short videos in the middle of my poem presentation, but I quit from that idea, because I realized that my video is long enough, and that I do not have enough time to work on that as well.

My project could have been better If I started working on it a week before the presentations, not the day before, because I was in a hurry to finish it, and I didn’t worry as much about the quality of it, as I could have if it was done before. It could have also been better if I had completed all the written assignments that my teacher, Mrs. Katarina Knezevic assigned us to do (Create, Design and Plan), because I could use those as helping devices during the process of making my Multi media project.

The programe I used for making my project was Windows Movie Maker. This programe is not very sophisticated, but it is the easiest for beginners to work on, because everything is very clear, so I chose that one. Also, one more factor influenced my choice. Last time I worked on a Video project, I used iMovie, the programe that Mackintosh computers use for making video presentations. Because it is one of the most sophisticated programs and is also very easy to use, even more than Movie Maker. The only problem with that was because school computers couldn’t read a video that I made in iMovie, so I didn’t want to risk my entire grade for the project just because of one programe.

The first step in making the project was reading the poem a few times over, and looking up images on’ Google’’ that I could put in my presentation and which would go along with the poem, because for every slide I need a good picture that can explain the text that is floating over the image. When I downloaded most of the images, I imported them in the Movie Maker, one by one. The process is now starting to go slowly, because I needed to import picture by picture and cut the text from the poem and import it with the image. That needed to be done image by image, row by row. Also, I needed to put some effects when images change from one to another. Color of text was also a slight problem, because not all my pictures are the same color, and when I import the text to float over the images, sometimes they are the same color, so the text can’t be seen clearly. If an image has many colors, I have to pick the perfect color of the text that wont mach any color that is on the picture.

For the Multi Media presentations, I unfortunately broke my leg, so I was stopped from coming and presenting my poem. As I found out the next day, my teacher Mrs. Knezevic didn’t let Garic present my poem, because she wanted me to come personally, so the audience didn’t have the benefits to see that piece of art. I am sure they missed the best poem that evening, but, life isn’t fair, is it? :)

Overall, I am happy how both my project and poem turned out in the end, and can match some of the others. But, it can always be better, can’t it? :)
